Scavenger Hunt gallery 2 - cardcreek
One well of many hundreds of abandoned oil and gas wells left behind in Duke Center, Pennsylvania. This area was drilled early on when many wells were cased with wood. Over the years the wood deteriorated, leaving deep, open, unplugged well bores under the surface. Most are unmarked and have no barriers to prevent wildlife or humans from falling in. Duke Center's open well bores are a significant safety hazard for wildlife, children and adults.
